The Goal:

Opening the door to school success for nursery by building their foundation in oral language development, phonological awareness including phonemic awareness and background knowledge.

The Solution:

A research-based and research-proven complete nursery programme, provides children with experiences that prepare them for success in Reception and the primary years.

The Key to school success is language, and nursery children are learning at an incredible pace. Curiosity Corner fosters the development of children's language, literacy, interpersonal and self-help skills. The focus on strong oral language skills, a love of reading and listening comprehension creates a solid foundation for learning.

Curiosity Corner accommodates half-day and full-day implementations.

Instructional Materials:

Nursery teachers will receive the necessary instructional materials to implement the Curiosity Corner programme in a well-equipped early childhood environment.

These materials include:

  • A Curiosity Corner Teacher's Manual. The manual provides an overview of the programme with chapters on the philosophy, curriculum components, teaching strategies, family and teacher support and assessment.
  • 36 Theme Guides, organised within global themes, the backbone of Curiosity Corner. Written in a weekly format, Theme Guides provide the framework for each day of the theme-based unit, a rationale, materials lists, objectives and vocabulary, a detailed description of each component and a letter for families.
  • Rhyme Cards and Activity Cards that support instruction and practice of new concepts, e.g. sorting, classifying and so on.

Professional Development:

Success for All builds a partnership with your school through training sessions, onsite training, scheduled telephone meetings and informal telephone support. Training sessions are developed in conjunction with school leaders and are customised to the needs of your staff.

  • Initial Training - £350
Prepares teachers to begin implementation of the programme.
One day's training is planned for teachers, assistants and administrators.
Training outlines the objectives of Curiosity Corner and prepares staff to begin implementing the programme.
Training can be shared among schools and also combined with KinderCorner.
  • Ongoing Professional Development and Coaching - £250 per half day.
As the year progresses, you'll have a variety of ways to work with an advisor to review your progress and refine your goals. It is advised that schools have at least one follow-up support visit a year. Each visit consists of classroom visits, trouble-shooting, data interpretation and goal setting.
    Phone support is also provided.
