We've had great success introducing our
Power Maths into schools. It was developed in collaboration with the
University of York and incorporates many of the Power Teaching
strategies and techniques developed by our other programmes.
|
|
|
Key Benefits:
• Fully planned lessons, with enough detail to be taught by both
specialists and non specialists.
• All lessons promote full participation of students in their
own learning.
• Full assessments included.
• Lessons follow the objectives set out by the Secondary Maths
Framework. |
Key Features:
• The Power Teaching lessons use co-operative learning strategies,
where students work in small, mixed-ability learning teams.
• Team members support each other, not only to learn concepts,
but teach each other the concepts, this will then reinforce and
consolidate their own learning.
• The programme enables teachers to structure activities so that
all students will discuss, debate and wrestle with ideas, concepts
and skills until they thoroughly understand them and are able to
explain this to each other as well as the rest of the class.
• Each team has clear team goals. All students have equal
opportunity and encouragement to make progress, practice new
concepts and to explain these to each other.
• Strategies encourage students to make peer on peer assessments
as well as individual assessments throughout the lesson. |
