It’s with a great deal of excitement that we can today announce the appointment of our new Managing Director, Michael Shepherd.
Michael, who will be officially joining us on 1st May, is currently the headteacher of Hawes Side Academy in Blackpool and has over 25 years’ experience in the educational sector working in local, regional and global roles.
In 2007, Michael successfully created and implemented the Kaizen Network of schools in the UK, which aims to develop CPD opportunities for school staff and create sharing learning experiences for children. He was Chair of the SSAT’s Family of Schools Primary Network from 2010 to 2011 and was a member of their Primary Steering Group from 2006 to 2012. Michael has recently supported the development of cultural education partnerships, having established effective and successful partnerships with schools and educators nationally and internationally, most notably in China.
Speaking of his appointment, Michael said:
“I am delighted to be joining the team at Success for All. This research-based, whole school improvement strategy is widely used across America and in an increasing number of other countries with stunning results. Many UK schools have already benefited from the SfA programme and many more are keen to adopt its proven strategies. I am looking forward to working with the team to support our SfA schools and increase our ever growing SfA family. The most important gift we can give to children is the ability to read, and this is the focus of Success for All. With over thirty years of experience of successfully supporting schools, I am looking forward to building on SfA’s achievements to date and supporting more schools and nurseries in this ever-changing educational climate.”
Our co-founder and chair, Nancy Madden, states “SfA is so fortunate to have Michael joining us as Managing Director. His many years of experience as a successful Head Teacher, and as a leader of initiatives to connect schools and teachers to share and learn, will serve us well as we grow the Success for All network in the UK.”
Our current CEO, Matt Ditchfield, will be stepping down. Matt, who has been with us for six years, is relocating to Canada with his family.
During his time with us, Matt has been instrumental in leading us through what has proved to be a very difficult economic and political time. Matt’s strategic leadership helped build upon the foundations laid by our founders and saw us grow significantly during his tenure. Matt also oversaw our move from York to our new HQ of Peterborough in 2016. Matt will maintain a close working relationship with us from his new home as we look to grow the charity in North America and Canada.
All of the team would like to extend a special thank you to Matt and wish him all the very best in Canada.
